You could argue that if your going to appoint Sherwood then you might as well have kept AVB on for the rest of the season. Too many clubs sack managers only to realise there isn't much better out there and I think this is what happened to Levy's. The pool of available managers was very thin.
Hoddle had been previously sacked by Levy in 2003, so I think asking him back would have been too much of dent to Levy ego.
Again things change so quickly in football. Levy was seen shrewd and pivotal in Spurs resurgence in recent years. Now his sale of Bale seems weak, his managerial sackings unnecessary and his spending of £100m wasteful.
