Newcastle could become an AW track
not sure if this good news, the arc group also own folkstone and hereford (i think they do) and they shut them down this year as they were not making money.
it might be a good idea to have a aw track in the north or maybe better in scotland i dont really know, but i think more sandbagger meetings in the evenings and those dire matinee cards do not do racing in particular flat racing any good what so ever.
any money available would surely be better spent putting up descent prize money and rejuvenating their existing tracks, and even drastically reducing some of this evening all weather dross and using the money to beef up and provide better quality racing on a sunday
when sunday racing was introduced, it was on the premise that good quality meetings would be held most sundays, that never happened, so why spend money to introduced more low grade so called all weather racing ( more accurately should be called artificial surface racing,as they are clearly not all weather), when what should be one of racings prime days is still providing mostly mediocre stuff, they would be better using any money to up the overall quality not introduce what will probably be more dross (my opinion).
i am spouting off as a racing fan not as a trader

Old news but Catterick's flat course may change to an AW course, with the jumps course remaining intact. Personally, this is a good move as it gives me an option to go to a flat meeting during the winter (that's if I decide to come over when its freezing!!!)
