Just heard on ATR that the evening racing is set to become all dusk meetings in the new year. I personally like this news as it means the UK racing will finish much earlier and also there is going to be an extra race added to the cards also it means you can just carry on from the afternoon rather than taking a few hours off and trying to then get back into the swing of things.

On the downside I do find the dusk meetings not as good for trading as the evening markets. On the whole though a much welcomed change imo.

Seems like a sensible idea,i do enjoy all-weather racing under the lights it is just a pity they could'nt bring back jump racing on it.
I know it did'nt work the last time they tried it but the surfaces have moved on since then.
In anycase it could'nt be as bad as running around some gaff track in the summer where the ground is little more than concrete painted green!
Most trainers school their horses on a artificial surface now and would welcome the chance to able to run any horse they have that appreciates decent ground at this time of year.
Jump racing at night.Got to worth a try has'nt it?

Personally as a part time trader this won't be a good decision for me. :(

They said it will be a trial for a few months. I think the racecourses would prefer evening racing and the bookies twilight. Interesting to see who wins.

Thought it would be interesting to get views on this now.

I think this has worked for the full timers. I've preferred the twighlight racing as I drift from the afternoon into the twilight racing now and when that is over I still have time for other stuff. Last year there was a gap and then the racing would start up again meaning I was left in limbo for that time.

I guess it has impacted the part time traders the most. But with the days getting longer I think that may solve that problem?

I also have really liked it for similar reasons as Peter. You are able to just flow straight on into it and it is all over and done with early enough to allow you to get other stuff done. On Saturday they had a night meeting and the big gap was a real pain and reminded me how much of a pain the evening meetings can be.

A welcome change.

I'm trade pt but actually prefer the change. I rarely traded in the evenings as I preferred to have that time of the day free. What I do now is trade on my days off, so having the racing batched closer together works out better, for the same reasons mentioned.

I suppose the important thing is "Do the Owners, trainers and punters prefer it" otherwise it'll sink,

cheers, P
