In-play has been very good today and yesterday but how have you found January Peter as I have had a rubbish month (not negative luckily)

Its hard to compare like for like really. In Q4 of 2013, i was extremely busy with work (a large proportion of my workload is in this quarter), so i didn't get to manually trade as much as I would have liked.
Jan P&L is greater than the previous three added together (surprisingly), but I have been manually trading too.
This month has been significantly better than Jan 2013. (I can't remember if we had a lot of bad weather that month and Feb?)
My best month ever in seven years was in Feb 2011 (Jan 2011 was only slightly behind), so its still possible to do well in these months..

I was curious about how the Pre race traders found today/Yesterday. Ive been away for a few days ad only traded on auto with good success. Although there should be no correlation between Pre race and in play, it does seem to hold true for some reason?
Regards
Peter

Yesterday was decent enough, probably the smoothest day since I've been back, though I haven't seen the kind of crazy behaviour that has happening at the end of last year which makes it almost impossible to trade since coming back fortunately. Wednesday there was no racing in the afternoon:!:

It only takes one person to be away or behave in a certain manner to alter how the markets feel completely. If there is a clear correlation between pre race trading and IR trading then I would surmise that it's likely to be due to bots being switched either on or off from the same source.

Thanks H,
Yes when I woke up (early) on Wed I loaded the markets in Guardian and set the automation up, we then went out for the day.
I saw a post in the forum saying that some of the meetings had been cancelled, so i didn't expect much from kempton. When we got back to the hotel in the evening, I had a nice surprise - taquka traded at 1.01 and lost (I think it was the 18:20>?).
I agree that it may be just one or a few who are causing the upset; one of then might even be betfair themselves :?

To add in some contrast, I have found IP to be decent for most of Dec/Jan but dire the last 7 days.

Sometimes difficult to know if you are trading poorly or markets are different...

Lol trade the first race today, the 17:20 at Wolverhampton, immediately finished for the day now.

Too tilted to carry on now.

Man I literally can't do this any more. I just can't make out where a price is going, everything want's to turn so fast and so hard.

At this point I honestly can't see how it's anything but random.

Not exactly the most inspiring card to make your fortune on today. Very much background stuff for me.

Hmm it's almost as if 5 mins before the start is the trigger for a move to either stop or viciously change direction. Don't think I've seen a trend continue all day.

Anyhow worst day for ages. I think me and Switesh are putting our heart and souls into this and getting f all back tbh (well I don't know about Switesh).

And yes I am feeling sorry for myself :)

And what a surprise there's another favourite (17:10) that wants to steadily come in and then smash back out all of a sudden.

-£162 for the day, load of bollocks.

EDIT: Clawed half of it back on various markets, back to the drawing board for me though

I don't trade UK markets atm (I trade Aussie) but I have noticed that a few hours before the race, the trend is fairly obvious to determine. Maybe you should look into that...
