Is a big meeting like cheltenham a good place to start trading for real or are markets harder to read than normal

The markets are not normal at Cheltenham.

I know Peter and others put a lot of focus on these big meetings but to me they were not the important part of trading. Yes you can make more than normal at them but they come around few and far between. What you really need to crack imo is the day in day out low quality racing as that will make up an extremely high percentage of the racing markets you trade in a year.

The Cheltenham markets can be pretty slow moving on Betfair with huge amounts of cash lined up.

Best of luck but don't worry if you don't crack it this week.

I strongly recommend 'match betting' this week, which is basically taking advantage of the offers bookmakers give. Paddy has a good one going and there is bound to be more this week :D

Hi
Worthwhile having a read through last years thread :-

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7525&hilit=Cheltenham+2013

Im going to try and take better notes this year.
Interesting to see som comment by JimRobo, getting caught out in the early races. Also Sweets had a couple of cracking results too!
Regards
Peter
Edit : Pokerhead, can you please change the title to "Cheltenham 2014", its just so when we look back next year its easy to reference.

Going well over here today, didn't get anything from the first race but up, up, up all the way since then.

So far so good. Could well be my last Cheltenham on betfair with the giant shadow of the PC3 looming.

How are you guys getting on on daq? I wish I had it in me to trade both simulataneously so I could see for myself
