how and why markets move?

Been football trading for a while now but just started trying to get into horses.

im looking at doing some quick scalping using the ladder on betangel

can anyone explain why and how the markets move up and down?

Just remember the markets don't have to move to make you money. A common mistake that new traders make when starting out is that they assume they need to know what direction things are moving in. That's not always the case at all.

My understanding was that the whole concept of trading was deciding where the odds were going.Surely the moment you place a bet you are down one tick and therefore without the odds moving one is out of pocket. Where am I going wrong?

Right there, always ask for a price rather than taking one and you won't be down one tick immediately.

You can back at the lay price and lay at the back price..the pre off football markets are quite easy to do this with...You can then use this money to speculate in play...you dont win every time...but every now and again..it can be a nice pay day.
