This has been a good race over the years for me but the style of horse required is definitely changing.
The fences are not as daunting following the changes and the horses can bulldoze through some and stay on their feet. Basically you need a tank which can plod on all the way to the line.
Here is my group of horses, I think they fit the profile required. I won't go into full detail but they all should jump well enough and stay almost as long as the Mother in Law!!
Colbert Station
Goonyella
Teaforthree*
Tidal Bay**
Lion Na Bernai
Monbeg Dude
Battle Group
* This is the favourite and the price is stupid. You need at least double figures in my humble opinion
** He is 13 years old but because he has proved moody he doesn't have too many miles on the clock with only 15 runs in the last 3 years.
You need a lot of luck to win this race so it will be small stakes and fun for me and my family.
Good luck if you play.

Yeah it's always more fun to watch a few die or end their careers for our once yearly entertainment.

I was upstaged by my own son! The positive view, I taught him all he knows
I culled my original list and removed Pineau de Re. I didn't edit the list when Goonyella didn't make the cut. My son had 2nd and 3rd whereas my horses failed to show and I suffered from removing the eventual winner. I cannot complain though because the look on my son's face was priceless.
The shape of this race is changing as horses can make mistakes and still get round. The winner made a real howler, one that would have stopped him before the changes. I am pleased though because the excitement is still the same and horses come home safe with their jockeys.
To close...the starter is a pillock...come on come on come on..oh no wait.....stop!! You couldn't make it up!!
