Hi,

I'm a lurker for the last 15 months while I have been having fun with bet angel...

Can I ask what the a-listers/pro's of this forum think of practice mode.

I recently had an automated excel and guardian based system that over 600 races at minimum £2 stakes got involved in about 250 races and returned just over £1.50 per race. This was running in practice mode. I put it live and was down over £200 in 1.5 days from about 15 races when I had to stop it.

Now I am not claiming my system was any good (it obviously isn't!) but there is a massive decrepancy here, I'd like know whether people bother with practice mode at all,

Edit - this is all in-play. (Haha I hear you laugh)

While I am writing my first post I'd like to thank Mugs game who I believe is called Steve for the amazing videos.

Practise mode is good for pre play strategies but it can't cope with the volatility you see in the in-play markets. Your experience is odd as I have found in-play strategies to work better in live markets.

Maybe just an unlucky couple of days.

Well depending on your stakes, assuming your using minimum -£200 from 15 races is strongly implying that the strategy is not profitable.

Practice mode is designed to help you practise using the various features of the software.

I wouldn't recommend you test out any long term strategies using it as the behaviour of the real exchange cannot be exactly replicated by your home computer.
