Dear all,
Please could someone help with an Exchange query?
On Saturday I placed an exchange bet backing Millonarios vs La Equidad in the Columbian play-offs. The market was 20 minutes in (and thus In-Play).
45 minutes in, Betfair suspended the market. The market never came back In-Play, and when, as I suspected, Millonarios went 1-0 up, I was unable to trade out for a profit.
The game finished 1-1.
I phoned Betfair Customer Services and they said their 'Match Operations Board' showed they lost their live feed for the game so they suspended the market and settled bets based on the final score, meaning I lost.
I've looked at the Betfair rules today and I can't find anything specific on this occurrence.
Do I have a case to say Betfair should have voided my bet, or is it a case of tough luck for me..? (with a view to betting on soccer markets closer to home next time).
Thank you,
Rob

Just tough luck I'm afraid , it's a regular occurrence Betfair losing the feed on foreign matches. It's all covered in their rules and can't really expect them to cancel your bets that may have been against someone having a straight bet just because you wanted to trade. Always worth having some sort of backup plan with the more obscure markets like checking what other bookies are also doing the market. Football is at least one of those markets where you might not lose out too much on the percentages by having to close out with a bookie
