can you tell: what stage of the race?

Helllo gentlemen i was hoping that you can help. I have used BA for a month with mixed results but then i had to give it up as i had a wedding to focus on.
Now i want to get back in the game.

I was wondering is it possible (probably on excel) to split the race into parts (start, middle & end) as i assume more money comes in larger amounts and at quicker volumes into the race towards the end? Or is the only way to do it by time (eg wait 0-30 secs, 2mins - 2.5mins etc after start?)

You could use standard times to guess roughly at what stage the race is at.
