Hi
does anybody have more than one account with bf. I talked to them and they said only one account is allowed.
multiple accounts with bf
From 31 January 2013, customers with an existing Betfair account are not permitted to open a new account with Betfair.
Any customer that already has more than one Betfair account on 31 January 2013 is required to nominate a single Betfair account to use across Betfair’s products by contacting the Betfair Helpdesk. Customers that continue to operate multiple Betfair accounts after 31 January 2013 will have their accounts ‘linked’ and managed accordingly. This may affect the extent to which bets can be placed on the Betfair Sportsbook by such customers.
Should Betfair believe, using its absolute and sole discretion, that you have:
registered and/or used more than one account; and/or
acted in collusion with one or more other individuals through a number of different Betfair accounts to back the same combination of selections (regardless of whether or not such bets are struck separately, at a range of different prices or on different days)
in an attempt to exceed the maximum pay-out for an individual account holder across linked accounts, it reserves the right to withhold any winnings arising from such behaviour.

I have two accounts (i used to have three). I can still only have 20 req/sec etc..and the bit that annoys me is that whilst they are linked for PC..they are not linked for commission?
Alpha, its useful to segregate your P&L's sometimes, to see whats working and whats not.
regards
Peter

First I have so to say that I have more than "one". Not using all of them but from time to time.Alpha322 wrote:From the above it looks like no, how ever i have always wondered why people need more than one account from the same company that i dont understand.gutuami wrote:still do not get it. Can I use 2 or more accounts or not?
As you say "it looks like no" but it looks like yes also. Why more then one. PeterLe explained it.Only because of P&L reports. For example can you tell how much you made inplay and how much pre-race during the last week.
I remembered of an old account that I had some money in it. Then I thought of inactive account fee which is about 4 pounds/months or so and wanted to know if they took anything from it. I tried to log in but could not as I forgot password. What follows is the chat with super customer service. First he said the are unlocked now. I was about to thank him and say good bye when he said they are now closed

To create liquidity and generate commissions.Alpha322 wrote:From the above it looks like no, how ever i have always wondered why people need more than one account from the same company that i dont understand.gutuami wrote:still do not get it. Can I use 2 or more accounts or not?
I believe the reason the terms changed is due to the sportsbook, they were getting hammered by arbers as their prices were so out of line. The only way the 'crack trading team' new how to stop this was to put heavy limits but people were just opening new accounts.
It would be good if they just separated the exchange and sportsbook so we didn't have this problem.

If you ever look at Peter Webb's P&L's you will see they only ever report one sport so obviously yes you can have multiple accounts.
From what BF have said in the above quoted bits it all seems to be about the sports book. If they improved their filtering on the results it would remove the need to a large extent for multiple accounts but like PeterLe has pointed out there will still be times where people need different accounts.

Peter, I'm not quite sure how commissions are generated as it doesn't affect me. However my guess would be to find quiet markets with a wide spread and put through say 500 pound on one account and take it out on the other account and then do the same action to be at a zero balance, repeat, repeat repeat etc....? I presume this is a simple version of how commissions are generated to reduce PC charges and could be set up in excel to be at the right levels? Might save a few quid each month for you.PeterLe wrote:G

HI Steve
What I meant was discounts. If I am at say 4% on my main account...my secondary account might be at 4.5%.
When you open your second/subsequent account it doesn't automatically open with your existing level of discount. I cant remember now, but Im sure the accounts other than the main one starts again at 5%

I do have multiple accounts as I break it down by sport and often strategy. So one for pre-off one for in running etc. But all my accounts where created a long time ago. I'd often change accounts for security reasons.
Not sure what the current policy is TBH, but I know Betfair are still granting extra accounts for VIP's.
