I enjoy chatting to other traders, so if we can get the diary to fit we should get together.steven1976 wrote:As for Oct, hoping to be back for most the month but not confirmed yet. If your up north we can get peterle to spark up the BBQ and I'll get the beers in to keep him happy.

OK will let you know when I'm back in the wild west!

Hello Jeff
You asked me a question, about two pages ago
In answer - yes I have got something out of both courses, but if I had to chose one I would have to say Mugs course was more up my street and the continued support, on sometimes an hourly basis (if I aint doing my day job) cannot be rivaled at present. With regard to the money aspect - lets say I do not make so many mistakes as I used to, and if I do its normally my own fault by thinking I can trade anything, anytime and with any amount of money. After all, someone can load your gun for you, but if you want to shoot for yourself you have to pull the trigger
. However, most times, thanks to the course and further support, I know where to aim now and to sometimes look at the bigger picture. I now have more green than red thank....

how do you analyse the previous day peter? do you capture the data in excell and what specific things do you look for?Euler wrote: Each morning I analyse yesterdays trades, look for new angles, work on strategies, update spreadsheets etc. Then from 2-9pm (at least) in the summer I trade. That doesn't leave a great deal of time for much else to be honest. To operate in the markets at a high level that's what you need to do.
Peter what do you use to analyse your trades? do you watch recordings of them or do you have a spreadsheet collecting data?Euler wrote: Each morning I analyse yesterdays trades, look for new angles, work on strategies, update spreadsheets etc.
Thanks Steven
That is extraordinarily generous - I imagine it's extremely rare for someone to offer that kind of money to someone they don't know 'in real life' - but I'll pass.
Like Peter says, I need to work on the psychological side of my trading. Acquiring new techniques at this stage of my development would only delay my progress to the point at which I am making regular profits.
But thank you.

You have, and thank you.
I didn't mention you by name in my previous email as I didn't know if you'd want me to disclose publicly that we'd had private conversations (ditto the other traders who I've corresponded with privately over the years).

I would agree, and the problems with trading are reflective of deeper 'inner chimp' issues that affect other areas of my life.
Here's a prediction. I hope in the next three months to lose a few stone, as well as to make a decent profit on Betfair. I will either achieve both of those aims or neither, as they both require discipline and consistency. I think I will achieve both. I'm already planning the blog post I will write if/when I do!

I had the same toils back in the late 90's when I was trying to trade short term on the financial markets.
I can't imagine who you are referring to!Euler wrote:That's how a long term Bet Angel user who's been on my course twice ended up being asked to show some other software.

What motivates you to do all that work? Why not just take an early retirement?Euler wrote: Each morning I analyse yesterdays trades, look for new angles, work on strategies, update spreadsheets etc. Then from 2-9pm (at least) in the summer I trade. At the risk of appearing like an idiot...Euler wrote: That thread that ran about a video I put up. People deliberated the merits of it, but nobody actually ended up asking the right question. Which was, 'how best can I use this strategy?'. I would have happily offered an opinion at that point. But waited and waited, nobody asked!

How best can I use that strategy, and what was the relevance of your questions re. Man U?

When I was young I was desperate to earn enough money to never had to work again. But when you find yourself in that position, you realise it wasn't actually the money you wanted at all.Ferru123 wrote:What motivates you to do all that work? Why not just take an early retirement?

I've told my kids that money isn't really a measure of success at all and that they should do something that interests them and makes them happy.
I wasted so much of my earlier life working with and putting up with people I should never have given the time of day to, doing jobs I didn't enjoy.
Actionable information as in:
A. An 'X marks the spot' map to the goldmine, which leaves zero ambiguity?
B. Knowledge about the markets that you can use to devise and test a strategy?
I imagine that the vast majority of people attending a course want (and maybe expect) the former, but the latter is the best they can hope for (not a criticism of course providers, btw).

No worries Jeff. The offer is on the table and due to an even more generous offer by others reading this thread, it can be arranged for the full day paid, including course fees, hotels, travel etc... So if you change your mind send me a PM and we will get it sorted out. Knowledge is power as they say, so could be worth reconsidering.Ferru123 wrote:Thanks Steven
