Had a nightmare last Friday on the 1st race at Ascot. There were 3 reserve runners which I didn't notice. The lay market was over-round and I started smashing it (stupid). I was showing a healthy green book of close to $200. Then all of a sudden the market resettled (as the reserve runners were withdrawn). My green book suddenly turned into a red book of $1,900 and my betfair account was in negative by about $1,000. I could have exited the position for a small loss of $16 but I couldn't get out because my account was in negative. Next minute the race started and I was screwed. I couldn't understand what happened and was furious I couldn't exit. Called betfair and they said they would investigate. A few days later got a call from Betfair who got all technical with me about the betting rules etc. In short they said there was nothing they could do.
Just got a call from Betfair ... by some miracle they said there was a stuff up on their side and they have just refunded me my loss of $1,900 !!
I will never do that again !!
Phew ...
My inexperience in some of the techical betfair rules caught me out. I am stoked it worked out in the end.
