Hi,

What do you guys propose is the future of exchange betting in particular regards to horse racing in- running?

Made a tidy sum last week laying about 2k. I know it's done to beginners luck, but It definitely put a smile on my face and the misses.

But I have this nagging suspicion that I've missed the glory days of exchange betting and this will come crashing down soon, just my luck

Will betfair and other exchanges with trade and lay options be around say 5-10 years or even more?

Thank you for your time.

Disintermediation via platforms is a powerful trend.

The internet is a catalyst that has hyped this trend in many market places, from eBay to gambling to deposits and lending.

If you can find something that has a middle man exploiting an information gap then it is ripe for reform.

Rather than view exchanges as on the way out, I'd view them as the way forward (that is not to say the operator of the platform always does a good job or that any particular platform will last forever).

Betting exchanges have been around for about 14 yrs .. And during that time, certain sports have increased liquidity, whilst some have stagnated.

If/When Internet betting is legalised in the US, sports like Basketball,Baseball,NFL will become v liquid, and a new golden age will begin.

Don't think the golden age is over .. If u look for the edges, u can make more than those early prospectors, as the mkts are generally deeper.

Sure, it's not like finding Gold in the street, but, u haven't got to dig too deep.
