Why do the results list 3 rather than 4 placed horses, when 17 horses ran in the race?

You only get paid 4th in a handicap field of 16 or more runners.

The 14:05 Cheltenham was a Novice Hurdle and unless there is an offer from the bookmakers they will only pay on 1-2-3
