I want a spreadsheet that fires a bet when/if the home team scores the first goal. Not sure whether the best way to do this is to connect the spreadsheet to an external website (with live scores) or if there is an better alternative? A danger with the former I guess would be if the website isn't updated immediately, right?

Appreciate any help on this, ps I know there are other threads discussing spreadsheets for live score updates but I have not found any good solution in them.

The danger with using an external site to get the scores is not that it won't update fast enough, it is more that it might update too fast & register a goal that is chalked off shortly afterwards. I would suggest planning for that in your spreadsheet.

This is a decent site to link to:

http://www.xscores.com/soccer

It can take 10 - 20 seconds to update the data the way that I tried but that might not be a problem for you.

If you are not using a feed then you could try to do it based on tracking odds movement over time.

I am sure there is a thread here somewhere with a sheet that Euler did for telling the score, which is bound to be brilliant - I would try using that first.

Thank you.

Quick question though. Is that something that's considered normal already?
