Asked to amend its laws in 2007, final warning in November 2013.

With the amount of shit before the European Courts regarding tax rates and rebates for foreign companies, other international tax issues, human rights, immigration/asylum policies, copyright/patent/trademark law, security/militarisation of member states, trade agreements, rights to free speech/movement/religion etc, I think the EU are just trying to say we haven't forgotten, try sort something out and save the hassle.

On a side note, I haven't heard much talk recently in Ireland/UK about the taxing of internet betting at the point of consumption, it's always talked about as a way of bringing X million back into the tax net here and in the UK.

I think there'll be a shitstorm regarding what the actual point of consumption/taking part is... So is Dublin Flyer consuming as he clicks his mouse in Dublin to place a bet, probably. But if he's clicking his mouse to place a bet on a computer in a non-taxed area via VPS, how does it work then? There's a whole multitude of technicalities and loopholes, I suspect that's why nobody has tried to push through legislation in Ireland anyway, I'm not too up to date on the UK position.
