New Bet Angel Professional Beta 1.37 - API NG
We've just put v1.37.3 live at http://www.betangel.com/securedownloads/BAP_1_37_3.msi
It adds a new setting regarding virtual bets (on the Display page of the Bet Angel Settings) called 'Limit to best 3 prices only'.
As many of you may have noticed, with betfair's new API, virtual bets were applied down the full depth of the ladder which caused almost every cell to change on every refresh in a busy market. Ticking this new setting limits the virtual bet display to just be best three prices on each side of the book and makes the ladder appear much more stable when trading.

Just downloaded the new B.A.P .Now I trade football and generally have 5 copies running at busy times coming up to kick off and in play.My data request counter had been set at 3 so there was never a problem in that regards. Now I notice there is no data request counter in the new B.A.P. and it seems to be running at about 12 most of the time. So this would equate to 60 data requests with 5 copies running. My understanding from reading the forum is that it would not be a problem as there does not now seem to be any limit to data requests.Confirm that there would not be a problem with 60 or so data requests.
My main problem with not having a data request counter[with 5 copies running] is the high mobile internet data that this uses up.As I have only a set amount of data per month I will have to be very careful now not to exceed this.Would it be possible to reintroduce the data request counter inyour next update?

Betfair have certified that we call their API in the correct manner and at the correct rates, and they have not banned multiple instances, so unless they announce new rules, you can safely make a combined call across multiple instances of 60 without charge.
The data request limiter was a safeguard against betfair charges and was not the best way to throttle calls from a bandwidth usage point of view. You've got loads of control over individual refresh rates in Bet Angel, so you'll need to fine tune those to match the bandwidth profile you require.
Everything returned via the new API is compressed, but it does provide more information in response to a call than API 6, so I would expect your bandwidth usage will inevitably increase. You'll need to experiment to find the right balance between the refresh rates you require and the mobile data it uses.

I have updated from the old version 1.36 to 1.37.3 and not found it as updating prices as smoothly. My connection settings i have been using on the older version is Dynamic connection Tuner = 8 and have had connection smoothing off. Do i need to go through the connection calibration routine? or are there any standard amendments with the new API?
This new API isn't as smooth as API 6, but betfair are gradually improving it. It's much better now than two weeks ago!
We would recommend using Connection Smoothing set to Medium. It won't eliminate the occasional slow response from the API, but it'll have less impact to the general usage of Bet Angel when they occur.
You could probably tighten up the connection tuner a bit too. Try a starting value of 5 and adjust it up & down by 1 to find what feels best for your PC & internet connection.

New build: http://www.betangel.com/securedownloads/BAP_1_37_4.msi
As more people have upgraded directly from 1.35.2 to 1.37.x we've had feedback that the one second display of the Last Traded Price on the ladder (the Green/Red/Yellow highlight) is too slow and feels too different to the behaviour of 1.35.2. The change was actually made as part of the Last Traded Volume display in 1.36.0, but many people have stuck with 1.35.2. So in this latest build we've made it configurable in the Ladder settings page. It defaults to clear the highlight after 300 milliseconds but can be tuned to last for only a single refresh (to match 1.35.2) or longer (to match 1.36.0).
This build also fixes a slight flash that was spotted on the ladder on the fourth best price when the odds move up & down (yes the bug was THAT specific!)
It also improves the search facility in the Soccer tab of Guardian to bring it back to API 6 standards.

What's the date the old versions will be no use and we have to update? Also, I presume at that point we can just download direct from the download page?

Versions v1.36.0 and below will fail to work from Monday 10th November. We're not quite sure how they will fail as betfair haven't said... hopefully it'll be something meaningful like a login error message.
The latest API-NG versions are already on the download page, so yes you can get them from there whenever you want. You can also download the Diagnostics tool from there in case you want to test the API-NG connection before Monday.

This is one of the best bits IMOEuler wrote:Bet Angel will now automatically switch wallets for you when you visit a market, no need to tell it which wallet you want to use. But you still need to transfer funds between wallets.
I reckon this will lead to an increase in liquidity in some Aussie markets, even if the increase is slight.
