How long before FIFA is overhauled?

Football, Soccer - whatever you call it. It is the beautiful game.

What a farce they have turned into, how on earth can they be running one of the biggest sports on the planet!

Totally agree Peter. From what I gather in the reports I read this evening, Garcia gave his report into FIFA, they cherrypicked the good and bad bits fitting their agenda, and gave their own conclusions out and credited them as his conclusions.
Having your own ethics committee investigate your own company seems a bit like marking your own exam paper to me anyway.

I think Blatter has too much of a stranglehold on all the power, I can't see anything change until he's gone from the presidency, and from FIFA completely. Would love to be proved wrong though.

It seems to be that every decision made within FIFA is controlled by money or power. As you said Peter, it is an absolute disgrace that the biggest sporting body in the world is so corrupt, but I think that because it has gone on for so long, we have just accepted it. However, could you imagine the response if the NFL was found to be corrupt, or even some of the smaller codes; the directors of those sports would be gone in a flash.

Good point.. but regrettabley those waiting in the wings such as Platini, may not be any better as they know the setup, how it works and can maintain the thinly veiled secrecy surrounding Fifa as it stands today.
It appears not to be accountable to anybody and not likely to change unless world football powers all pull together to say no we will not accept the way this is run.. dream on i guess...

Perhaps someone could set up an alternative World Cup like Kerry Packer did for Cricket in th 70s,probably only Murdoch could do it for a sport the size of football, would probably be lucrative for his TV companies though!

FIFA is an absolute disgrace. They don't even try to hide it anymore. Only a radical event can change the status-quo. I've read today in papers that Ex-FA chief David Bernstein calls for 2018 boycott. That could be a start. Imagine powerhouses such as Germany, England and France refusing to show up. Unfortunately I don't think that will happen anytime soon. They will find some bullshit consensus and all will be forgotten.

No doubt FIFA is one the biggest corrupted organization in the world. My curiosity is why the FBI got involved...Did we have to wait the americans to find out how corrupted is the FIFA? Is it because FiFa refused to cancel the world cup in Russia? Why Qatar has not been mentioned in this investigation...We all know how Qatar has been selected for the world cup 2022...
And Why Britain, Italy, Germany, Spain, all the south americans country, etc etc, are under the rules of such mafia organization?

well done to the Americans for getting involved to bring that shower to book.

why have European nations sat on their hands for all this time? because many are pretty corrupt also, just like the EU.

As Italians we feel that after the scandal of south Korea 2002 we have been repaid in full.
In 2006 we won the world cup.
In 2010 the referee who handled Italy vs South Korea 2002 was arrested at JFK for smuggling 6 kg of heroin into USA.
In 2015 the man in charge of the assigned referee was arrested by FBI for corruption.
In 2015 the man who ( Sepp Blatter ) refused to hand Italy the world cup trophy in 2006 has resigned and under FBI investigation for corruption.
Karma, what goes around comes around..... ;)
