Hi, Im running excel 2013 on a brand new machine. Ive only just started to use excel and i am a total newbie but im learning fast. Im trying to import football results into excel via soccerstats.com but any result that starts anything other than 0- shows up as a date! so for example if the score should read 1-2 it shows up as 01-February. I played around as much as i can with cell formats ect but changing it to a number only further distorts the info, it changes it into very large numbers or percentages. any help would be much appreciated.
Come on man! When you crack it, you may want to share what you did with others to solve the problem. Then the forum's body of knowledge grows and everyone is happier for it!
That's why forum's are great right!?
For the record, one way to solve this problem of Excel's annoying auto formatting into dates is to preset the cell format to 'Text'. (From the formatting menu 'Text' is the bottom option under 'Scientific' for me on my medieval Excel 2003)
