Why do football markets suspend so often

Football, Soccer - whatever you call it. It is the beautiful game.

I'm still relatively new to football trading.

Tonight a game I was on, the market suspended due to an injury according to BF live game feed on their site. The live game feed then updated saying it was a free kick and showed it was on the edge of the penalty area. However the market didn't open until after the goal was scored.

Is this normal? I don't really understand why the market suspended for an injury and also why it did not re-open for a free kick?

Yes it's so annoying! The only time a game should be suspended is when there is a goal.

They use a third party to monitor most matches, so there is some guy in the ground pressing buttons on a smartphone. Probably needed a pee. He doesn't particularly care that anybody is trading the match. He just sends data to head office so bookies can act when there is a goal.

Very annoying! It should never be suspended in my opinion. Let people take on the risk if they want.

I suggested they have two markets, managed and unmanaged and let the customers decide.

Makes sense. I'm hoping to do a bit of courtsiding next week at a mickey mouse event (nothing serious). Never done it before and would like to see how the time delay aeffects bets also as its surely all built in for the third party to relay info. If I spot the bf man, I'll post and tell you he's taped up and strip him of his phone.
