Hi all,
This will seem like a weird post, but I ask that you bear with me please. :-)

I have been using Bet Angel for some weeks now (with little success I might add) and up until today I was quite happy(!) to be losing money as I learned my craft.

However, another horse's death today (Big Shu) has made me rethink my future in Trading and I really don't want to be a part of what I now see as a legalised Blood-Sport!

With the above in mind, can more experienced traders advise me as to whether I can still look forward to making a living (a while down the road I realise) from sports other than Horse Racing, or whether I would be better off moving away from trading altogether, given my decision to cease trading on the Gee-Gee's?

Any and all replies will be most welcome.

Kindest regards
George.

Unfortunately that is something that comes with most sports George. Yes its more likely in horse racing or dog racing. But a footballer can drop dead fans can and have died in crowd issues or a F1 racing driver can be killed in an accident.Jockeys have been badly injured and killed. If it does bother you to that extent trading sports may not be for you

I don't feel jockey's get credit for what they do. They don't get paid much but face serious injury most of the times they run. Compare that with a footballer who gets paid £300k a week and rolls around like a girl when somebody brushes past him.

Freak accidents can occur in any sport or activity (Cricket the most recent example). In some of the other controversial sports like boxing I thinks its generally accepted that they do more good than harm overall.

I accept that many people feel that horse racing is cruel and is up to them if they feel thay cannot invest in it for ethical reasons.

Im sure it is possible to make a living from other sports though for me the greater consideration is the ethics of gambling rather than animal cruelty. The horses have been bred to run and jump and to some extent they have the mental capacity to choose to take part, plenty Ive backed have refused to start or jump!

I think there are just still a ton of people investing a lot on horse racing. I never really learned to love it but a lot of people do.
