Been a bit slow adding to the site (hospital), but thought you might be interested in a new feature that I've added and will be updating every day.
http://www.tradersandpunters.com/daily- ... downloads/
It lists all the runners and their first and second placings and the conditions that they were achieved under, just scroll down to see entire list.
Cheers,Nigel.
Traders & Punters Website
Thanks for that. To be honest I probably will charge for some content, but keep it reasonable, probably £10 per month, which would be about 33p per day. Let me know what you think.
I'm thinking of taking a closer look at all the favourites and their preferences, to see if they should be opposed or supported.
Added a download link at the bottom of the page.

Might get shot down in flames for this but just added a new test spreadsheet listing the in-running comments, see how long it can last.

I know that the "First and Second Placings" spreadsheet is not the easiest way to visualise the data, but presented in the way it is enables the user to build their own spreadsheets to interrogate the data shown to their own satisfaction.
I'll be adding a second sheet as an example that helps me to quickly zoom in on the horses I'd be interested in in a particular race. I'ts being done manually at the moment, so there are only a few examples, but you can see the results for some of todays races. All the information to get the rankings shown are on sheet 4, which was posted on the site for download early morning 13/11, so nothing was done 'in hindsite'.
Unfortunately, I can't get any prices as most of the races on OddsChecker just show SP, so it means checking each horses price nearer the time.
I find it useful to give me an idea of favs to back or oppose, or as a guideline to look out for value, (you can see in the last example, the fav was ranked 9th last, and came second at 3/1).
I'll carry on with it but want to automate it, so it won't appear for a while.
Cheers, Nigel

Hi Nigel,
I just tried to access your links but nothing came up... I guess you're in the process of automating everything now...
I know the feeling doing stuff manually feels such a waste... and then automating stuff normally takes double or triple the time you initially estimate it will
Had a look at your spreadsheet, it looks like you're on the right track. If you're familiar with pivot tables I'd suggest they might be one way to automate the identification of the big drifters and steamers.
I'm actually looking to scrape something similar to facilitate my pre-race prep process - but you may save me some time - is it a regular thing you have available every day?

I've tried several different downloads/uploads/test pages added/deleted pages etc, etc on the website, but things are slowly settling down as I get to learn about website building.
The pages I have now should all be working ok and all the links on the main menu should work.
goto http://www.tradersandpunters.com/
all the links on the main menu should work ok.
I thought about the pivot tables, but prefer to present it in a database style to enable the user to build something of their own design and include/exclude whatever variables they want.
The ranking system shown was just one example of the many ways that people could use the data. What's on the website is only a sample. There were over 7,000 rows of data for Friday, so what you see on the site is only part of the story.
I intend to make the downloads a regular thing for as long as possible.
Cheers, Nigel

Just added a new download that gives a list of todays meetings and shows if the runners have met before.
http://www.tradersandpunters.com/daily- ... downloads/
You can see that in the 12:45 at Leicester two runners have met previously and that their finishing positions were 1st and 3rd.
Similarly, in the 2:10 at Wolverhampton, 3 runners have met before (Offshore 2nd, Mikandy 4th, and Smugglers lane 7th). Clicking on the link will take you to the full result.
Again, let me know if you find it useful, any improvements you'd like to see, and also ANY OTHER SPORTS (and stats websites), you'd like to see.
Cheer,Nigel

Another data capture spreadsheet!
You can start to build you own database and back test.
