Struggling a bit with this.

I thought this system would run automatically whilst I was at work, so I started system up,entered requests and closed laptop(left Bet Angel minimised, but still running)
When I got home, nothing had happened, no bets taken.

I have got security password on laptop and I usually have to log back in after 5 mins but that shouldn't stop Bet Angel running should it?

Surely I don't have to leave me laptop open all day (I need some privacy)

Oh dear,

That's blown my idea right out of the water.

How can you be expected to leave your laptop on all day whilst at work.
Especially if you wanted to keep your dealings private.

Anyone any ideas of a way round this problem?

Get a VPS, I use tagadab.

You might be able to change the settings so that your laptop doesn't hibernate when you close the lid. Or change it so that you have a screensaver but it never hibernates.

Just thinking about this.

I suppose you could leave Betangel minimised?
Presumably it will still carry on.

But you won't be able to close your laptop will you?
Hang on, I will try it.
No, it don't work with laptop closed.
Why is that?

Virtual Private Server

BetAngel will work when minimised, the probably is that your laptop is going to sleep/hibernating when you close the lid. You therefore need to go to the settings to stop this happening.

I too use a VPS from Tagadab which has four primary advantages:

1. The ability to leave running all day on a fast link to Betfair.
2. The ability to access from any PC or iPad, etc using RDP.
3. The ability to access Betfair in countries where because of the local IP address it is denied.
4. As it is running 24 Hours/Day no worries on power consumption or fire risks.

I use the SVS2000.

You were correct.
I managed to get into settings and change them so that when I now close laptop "nothing happens" meaning it doesn't go to sleep just because I close the lid.
I also changed the settings which were on sleep after 10 mins inactivity.
Tried it out now all good.
Thanks for your advice!

Yes, when you order it you have a choice of which Operating System to use, choose Windows (Not Linux). I use Windows 2008 R2 (32 bit) but I believe this option is no longer available. Choose Windows 2008 R2 64 Bit as this works.

Just a heads up, don't attempt to go with a Linux or else, you'll be having a tough time setting things up if you're not tech savy. Windows is by far the simplest to use.
