Have had two suggestions thus far. I don't know what they are talking about either, so I'll post their responses verbatim.

1. "I've used DigitalPacific before and they were good although it looks like they only have Linux based VPS, or you might need to go VDS," Link for info is http://www.digitalpacific.com.au/hostin ... d-hosting/

2. "The best provider would depend on the purpose for the VPS. I have not had much dealings with any providers except for AussieHQ and they seem to know what they're doing." Link is http://www.aussiehq.com.au/

Don't know if that counts as help or not. If you want me to ask any more questions, let me know. Still waiting on one response, so may have more later.

did u know that only 60 oz traders are making a profit full time?, only 60!, makes me think is it worth it.
according to the ceo of betfair australia only 60 people from oz paid the premium charge

How many Aussie users of Betfair are there? - still not that many I think, and remember, only 1 in 200 Betfair accounts show a long-term profit, so assuming 12,000 Aussie customers, 12 000/200=60 in profit sounds about right.

Not really surprising. The 1 in 200 stat should have warned you that making money out of sports markets is about as hard as trying to squeeze blood from a stone. :ugeek:

Only recently I started looking at the UK races and only recently signed up with Bet Angel for the first time. First idea I tried with an automated Excel spreadsheet on the UK races was just raking in the money non-stop all night, with a whopping edge of 27% implied! Either I got lucky, or I've hit the motherlode :D Will try the same spreadsheet for the second time tonight, so this should tell the tale.

Only problem is, you really need to be awake to over-see the betting, which means a serious lack of sleep for those in Australia and NZ betting on UK races.

Hi just wondering how u went with ur spreadsheet strategy. Does it continue to bring in winnings, 27% or not... Am trying to come up with a few spreadsheet strategies myself and looking for any hints or help i can get...

Thanks in advance

Like the previous responses to this post, the lack of liquidity in any Aussie races other than the big festivals, makes it very hard to trade. Haven't fully worked out why the liquidity here is so thin - horse racing here is huge, occupies several pages of coverage in the daily newspapers, and with a TAB on every high street and many bars, there's obviously serious money wagered on a daily basis - it just fails to go through the exchanges in the same way as in the UK. Would love this to change - trading the UK races here means being glued to the screen from 11pm till 3am in the UK winter, and later for the flat season. Plays serious havoc with my sleep, and you have to be very focussed!
What do u watch the UK races on. Is it on Sky pay tv or on the net....

My fulltime job fits in with trading so I thought why not do both?

I only swing trade, because its too hard to scalp from here because of the slight delay you get being so far away from the Uk/ Malta servers.
Hi i have been doing scalping with limited success but don't no what swing trading is. Can u explain this to me or send me a link with more information.

Thanks

Hi Rabs2000,

Good to hear from you - I thought you must have had a massive exposure from a bad trade and had a heart attack and gone to that great race track in the sky! :)

Are you still trading/bookmaking? I have been having some renovations done to the house so that has slowed me down a bit - but still plugging away with moderate sucess.

I'll give you a ring and we'll see if we can get together to exchange notes on how to be a successful trader.

cheers

Hi Galilee66

I'm from melbourne and I've been using betfair for a few years now, I have been in the racing industry for 20 years and have a lot of knowledge on market movers , just recently I I found bet angel and trading but I'm still learning how to use the software I'm still learning on practice mode but with my information knowing pro punters trainers and jockeys being a x jockey
I know how the market plays still need the experience with bet angel , maybe we can chat a little about this .

Cheers

Hi mdakiz71 and Switesh and Rabs2000,

I have been trading very lightly for the past 6 months as I recover from some medical problems. I have been trading for about 6 years (not at supersonic levels - but in profit) - have 40 years plus in racing and betting - It might be useful if a few of us get together to discuss various trading strategies - particularly given the Turnover Charge and the restrictions on in play trading.

mdakiz71 - could you send me a private message (PM) through this forum with some contact details?

Switesh and Rabs2000 - i will ring you on your mobile numbers that you have provided.

cheers
