Went in very big on the last at Flemington just now.

Just did a little calculation. I constituted 5.5% of the matched volume. A bit more agressive than I'd normally like but very happy with the result.

I should have put my foot down even more then :)

We must have been a big chunk of the market between us

Yep. Plus naffers.

I try and scale to be around 2% of the market. But after the encouragement above I went a bit further.

Still for those 8 weeks a couple of years ago when betfair banned me from Australian racing, the markets didn't really look any different.

Betfair kindly investigated the issue for us and came back with the following answer: -

Hi Peter,

We have investigated the issue with the AUS API further and can confirm that this was caused by a loss of connectivity between AUS and UK based services. Our system has a back up process and in the event of such a loss the system automatically restores connectivity within 30 seconds.

We do everything we possibly can to avoid connectivity issues but there is nothing to suggest that this was a load related incident. Sorry for the unfortunate timing and inconvenience caused by this incident.

Out of interest Peter - how do the Australian markets compare now to say 2 or 3 years ago? In terms of liquidity and fill rate on Betfair? I am guessing they are non existent on BD?

No markets on Betdaq. Betfair markets are getting a bit erratic since Betfair passed control to Crown.

Thanks for that Peter - didn't realise BD didn't offer the markets.

Any idea of the total volume matched on average on the Oz markets? I assume Saturdays and Wednesdays are still the best but are the other days tradeable?

Y, Saw that. It looked like the switchover that they described earlier in the week.

Frustrating and scary when it happens. I had a £k liability sat in the market and it came back just seconds before the off!

API held up well there considering there was $1M matched, traded good as well.

I wondered what happened there.

Some days the world is on the side of the bots (and I protect myself in my automation with taking SP on all unmatched).

I didn't see it go at Morp but the market went completely AWOL but I wasn't able to do much about it.
