Australian racing
I've set a personal record today. So I can't complain. And i spent the afternoon in airports and planes. Thank you bet angel and guardian automation. Auto is so much better than the manual trader version of me. You see using my brain without human emotion just makes money. Yay.Euler wrote:Slipper traded well, but only £625k traded, thought there would be more. No API problems this morning it seems.
Great work Gaz! I had a losing day at the track so all panned out normally
On a serious note though, I think Sydney racing is in desperate trouble. I was expecting such a great atmosphere but I think only 15,000 people and 30 bookies turned up! Let's blame the turnover charge

Do they still have bookies in the pubs in Aus? I remember when i went there many years ago having bookies in the corner of bars which was quite strange at the time and expensive, or has it all just gone online?

I might come back for another holiday now then.burdo77 wrote:Do they still have bookies in the pubs in Aus?![]()
No they dont, apparently they still have them in nz. but dont qoute me on it!

Couldn't agree more with that! I remember when Sepoy won in 2011, the crowd was electric but since then the attendances have dropped off significantly. I blame V'Landys and Messara as they only seem to be concerned about increasing prizemoney rather creating new ideas to bring punters back to the track - Oh well, what can you dopoipoi wrote:I can tell you Naff, everyone in Victoria knows Sydney racing is in big trouble.

Just a quick question to the Aussie traders..
Do all the horse racing win markets have a "Take SP" option?
Thanks

For harness racing (which loads up with horse racing) not always.
Two questions, how long have you been working on your automation so you can now "live" from it?gazuty wrote:I've set a personal record today. So I can't complain. And if it's not a secret, do your bots just scalp the market, trade in-play, combination of both, ...?

Many thanks for your answers and congratz on your record

Being active in ausy racing, I guess gautsy doesnt scalp but smashes?
Thanks for replying. I'm looking for an overview of the Oz racing scene from a trading perspective. Every time i stick my head in it's dead so i can't seem to get anywhere. I just need something to help get me started.Naffman wrote:I think you will learn a lot more by actually trading it (practice mode) than reading 44 pages which probably doesn't even mention Aussie racing specifically. I've traded both UK and Aus and the only major difference IMO is the liquidity, but in saying that you can still get big amounts matched.
I'm looking to find out when people trade Oz racing, everyday or just on specific days/times? What kind of liquidity can you expect and how does it change throughout the day/quality of races if at all? Do you need to account for different timezones across Oz? Are there any rules in Oz that are different to the UK that i need to be aware of with regards pre race trading?
If there's a blog post or website anyone can point me to that covers the basics that would be great.
