Hi all,
I am wanting to use guardian to automate my trading.
Do I have to keep my laptop open to allow it to run or when it goes into sleep mode will guardian shut off too?
I know there is an option to get the vps, is this what I need for it to do the automation during the day?
Thanks
Guardian running with laptop closed
Yes, as soon as you put the PC to sleep you put Bet Angel to sleep you need a VPS or keep your computer active. But laptops often shut of their own accord.

The basic one should be fine but be aware it is designed to run Bet Angel for fast access to Betfair/Betdaq. It will not be good for web browsing etc.
Worth checking out if you laptop can do that. But I'd still prefer a remote server because you can pop in and check it with your phone etc. I have several running each day.Zapata wrote:I use my Dell laptop with the lid closed, it never is open. Sits in a docking station out of sight with Guardian chugging along most days and two big monitors attached. Keyboard and mouse are wireless.

At £20 a month should be well worth it. crikey, if i cant afford that and need to get one on £1 a week, then how am i going to be doing lays of £1000 each time like PW does. You gotta spend it to make it.
Can do any websurfing on my laptop so will just use it for trading.
Did I read it correctly it already has it installed or does it just come blank?

Ive set my lap top up in a way where when the lid is closed it still functions as normal (can change in control panel). Then I downloaded google remote desktop (for free) and have full access to my laptop on my phone. Cheaper than a server!

That's interesting. I'm currently paying a monthly subscription to GotomyPC for remote access. Can you confirm that all functions (eg spreadsheet manipulation) are available remotely?DaVinche14 wrote:Then I downloaded google remote desktop (for free) and have full access to my laptop on my phone. Gents,
It worth £40/Month to get a VPS. Its just so convenient
In 8 years Ive only had one outage and its been rock solid.
I'm never in a position where I have large liabilities, but if you have and your home systems crashes whilst your working remote, you could take a hit.
For a couple of quid a day, its worth it for piece of mind
