If you log in and go to "my tickets" you can raise a support ticket and monitor the status.

You can also see the status of your server, it may need to be switched on if you have shut it down. Go to the control panel and do it there.

What's the general opinion of the Sporting Servers VPS service?
I am 3 weeks into my first month of using the base level service and to be blunt, I would say it is not fit for purpose. Y have found the response rate to be really slow for any sort of trading activity pre-off and you can't trust it in-play. Furthermore, it has gone down three times in the past two days and I have lost over 1.5hours as a result.
Can you please share your experience.

David, I'm familiar with the correspondence you have had with the team. We have responded very quickly to any requests you have put forward. They have advised you to step to a different service as the version you have chosen isn't particularly suitable for what you are trying to do. I currently run seven servers on the service without an issue.

As for service outages I personally restarted your server the other day when you were unable to do it. This evening I just checked all tickets and there is nobody reporting any faults and your server appears to be up?

We are not seeing any particular problems at the moment and bombarding us with messages via various channels isn't going to help anybody resolve any problems you have. It's better if you go through the support structure put in place to help anybody having any issues. They responded within minutes of your ticket going up.

TBH I think you are better with another service if you want 24/7 telephone support for a server costing £19.99 a month. We \ they can't meet that expectation.

Hi Peter (Euler),
I think it is more appropriate to use Usernames on the public forum.
Thank you for your reply. I raised the question on the forum because I wanted to get feedback from others who have used the Sporting Servers service. Since I have been having response problems with the basic service, I have throttled back to just using the one-click window and the ladder. I am now being told that this may be "stressing" the server and I should upgrade. The point I am trying to make is that if this is still stressing the server then it is not fit for purpose and should not be marketed to BA traders.
This is not the appropriate support channels but since you raise the point - it seems to be the case that when the server goes down, I then can't access the "My Services" via the web-access to raise a ticket. It keeps kicking me out and asking me to log-on again. Hence, the emails to BA support.
I hope this helps and I welcome the views of other traders on their experience with Sporting Servers.

Just to clarify, the last time you described your usage requirements you were talking about using Excel alongside many of the advanced features of Bet Angel, that was why we recommended a multi-core platform. Basic operation of the one-click screen and ladder will be fine on a VPS100. The VPS100 is also suitable for simple hands-off Automation where the fast connection to betfair has the most benefit.

A Multi-core VPS would be more appropriate if you wished to combine Automation and manual trading, or wished to use Excel, or wanted to run Bet Angel and Guardian at the maximum refresh rates while connected via Remote Desktop. It's just a case of finding the right level of service.

As you'll see from the Sporting Servers web site, the 'Trader edition' is the VPS300.

I checked this morning and it turns out you are on the same node as me. I use that pretty much everyday and used it through Ascot.

I also checked all recent tickets and there doesn't seem to be any specific broad issues affecting the service. They guys seem to have responded quickly and courteously to you at all times from what I can see.

It's clear what you are trying to do by posting on here. I think it's best if you are still unhappy to choose another service that can meet your needs.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll take a look at the VPS300 service.

Peter - I think you are definitely reading more into this than there is. Please re-read my post. I have only asked for the opinion of other traders. I am trying to find the right service to meet my requirements. Nothing more, nothing less and definitely nothing sinister.
