where did i go wrong

Hello new to all this, but not to Betfair,
First try, so ok i made a mistake i thought i had clicked 5 times but was only three times on back bet, i have a small laptop and was unable to view bet n lay box, yes i know now under ladder prices its there,
So 3 x 2 pound back bets at 4.5
3 x 2 pound lay bets at 4.2
2 x 2 pound lay bets at 4.3
Right horse lost, so 3 x 2 pound back bets lost - 6 pounds
Lay bets won so 5 x 2 pound lay bets won + 10 pounds
result profit of 4 pounds before tax
Lucky i missed the 2 other back bets other wise out of pocket,
So where did i go wrong, please help

Hi

I am not sure how to help you here because I am not sure what you need to know. If you are placing multiple bets always keep an eye on your net liability as shown on the right hand side of the ladder stakes box.

I am guessing here but could your balance have been quite low so when you placed the lay bets they pushed you close to or on the balance limit? If that is the case it would explain why you couldn't (luckily) place the other back bets.
