Hi,
I am new (Sorry). I have come from a few months matched betting and got tired of pussy footing around the bookies to keep my accounts open. Not done too bad though. I see that trading appears to have more legs in it and this is why I am here.

I would like a strucutred start to my learning. I am not rushing to trade even though I already have the fast multi screen PC and bank etc. But I can relax more if I believe I know what I am doing.

So where do I start for a structured learning curve?

Thanks

Ian

You have a long journey ahead of you Ian, but you've probably come to the right place. Would help to provide more info about which sports you're interested in and what you've done so far, if you want to receive any decent advice from people.

This is going to sound bizarre. But prior to this I had no interest in sports. Now I have never known myself watch a race or a football match so avidly.

When I have done some crude trading and done well I have tended to use football but that is quite sporadic. I also tried milking Betfred for some free bets on the dogs and the lay bets were moving way too fast to do it manually (Now I know why). Also done well with some horses.

I am under no illusion, this is not a get rich quick scheme but I have a testing stick. Currently I work as a paramedics assistant on an emergency ambulance. They reckon we can retire from lugging people who weigh 20st up and down stairs at age 67. I figure if I can do something like this from whatever location, even if I had to do it from a wheelchair it would still be viable. I am in for the long ride, small stakes at first and scaling up.

Regards

Sounds like you need to sit back and take a break Ian. You have the right idea about trading it does take alot of effort and time to get it right and also about your stakes use small amounts of money while you learn and if something seems to be working scale it up and see how it goes.

Good luck.

Something I find interesting is looking at the amount of low volume posts on here. People seem to post then disappear :)

Well, most people give up when they realize how hard it is to find an edge on these markets. The worst part is, even if you put in a lot of time/money/effort in it you're STILL not guaranteed ANY success. Not only do you have to conquer the markets themselves, you have to conquer your psyche as well, this is where a lot of people fail despite finding a decent edge.

One would think that nowadays with all the courses and quality info out there finding success would be easier for newbie traders, but I think that it's much harder than in the previous years, although I wasn't around 2 years ago so I can't be sure.

Others might disagree but I think you'll sooner be able to learn how to trade horses than football, you have an absolute wealth of information on the subject of horse racing, but don't watch old videos because the markets have changed and evolved.

Perhaps you should start by watching some of the videos on Bet Angel Youtube channel to see what trading horses looks like and take it from there.

Hi there Ian, you really need to devote as much time to self teaching, whilst using all info others have provided. Watch as many of the bet angel videos you can, and watch them again after a while.

It's straight forward in the fact the info is all there to get you started and give you an understanding. Won't take long to learn the basics and the concepts.

Then the hard part of becoming successful. haha. Like with a lot of sports themselves it comes down to your mental game and your psychology. That is what makes the difference FACT. You will come across some really TRUE statements such as "control your losses" and these really are worth worshiping and are not to be taken lightly or with any pinches of salt.

But you are in the right place.

Don't be put off by the sceptics, it's perfectly achievable if you have got what it takes.

Good luck

also be prepared for a roller-coaster journey! There will be countless knockbacks and learning points. When you think you're doing it right BEWARE. The graph of improvement in this game is much like a stock chart come to think of it.

enjoy

Cheers. Just had a roller coaster on footy. I was in effect trading the correct score without software. Came out £16 up so better than a loss :)

Hi folks, thanks for the advice. I do intend to read through the posts, watch the videos etc. I may even consider a course. But I want one without hype. If it says make your millions sports trading it puts me off.

Re the psychology, well I am a qualified hypnotherapist and I know professional poker players and sports coaches who also use hypnosis and psychology so I am well supported in that area.

Hi Ian,

I too am starting off on this journey, I've done the masterclass course and have the supporting docs from it (which I have read and re-read through loads).

I'm doing this full time now (along with matched betting) as I was made redundant at the end of last year.

Suffice to say my head is spinning, but it still beats working for a living!

Cheers,

Freddy

Anyone recommend any realistic beginner courses. Sorry if it says make millions for Sports betting, retire and spend all day in your swimming pool I tend to switch off :)
