Yes

I've become really interested in Politics markets over the past couple of years.

The liquidity on some of these markets are surprisingly very good

I've got an interest in this. Got a massive £2.51 at 14 on Andy burnham from a bet I placed last June. He was evens when I looked a couple of days ago, though looks like he has been on the drift recently, out to 2.74 now, should have cashed out!

Can't believe they will let Jeremy Corbyn win, he was 50-1 outsider of 4 as recently as when the candidates were announced. Very nice trade if you saw it coming though, almost favourite now.

It would be amazing to see Corbyn win. But I think the powers to be in the Labour Party would really not want this to happen and therefore will probably find a politically motivated way of stopping it.

As we've all seen repeatedly over the years, political polls always seem to be consistently wrong. It always seems to be that when people actually have to commit to voting for something or someone common sense prevails.

Therefore I think you would have to lay Corbyn at short odds.

Clear favourite now, 2.62/2.64. It made the bbc news today that he is the new bookies favourite.

Not really my area, though ive had my eye on the market for a few weeks now. Thought he looked really short at 4.1 the other day, but luckily didnt do anything. Have laid at current price though.

From what ive read i just cant see it happening, though i thought there was no way they would go into the last election with Ed Milliband as leader, and they did.

I am not really interested in the betting market, but politically its looks like Labour is planning a very very long time in opposition.....Groovy

Can anybody confirm how the voting is done for this particular election?.

I didn't know whether it was a free vote or whether the unions have a block vote which takes up a significant proportion of the available votes each candidate. They could have quite a large influence on the outcome.

From my understanding of it it is a free vote not a block vote.

Though the unions yesterday recommended to their members that they vote for Corbyn, which caused the big price drop. So i think that still means that they are free to vote for who they like, though im not really totally sure how it works, so stand to be corrected.

Been a really interesting market to watch. He seems to have all the momentum now, and a lot of people are talking as if he has it won. Be a massive turnaround if he does do it, from 50-1 outsider of 4 to odds on favourite.

as i understand it you have a vote if you belong to an affiliated union or a member of the labour party or you can be a registered supporter.

apparantly quite a few tories are registering as supporters (which costs a couple of quid or so), and voting for corbyn.

Block votes from the unions have now been abolished, so its a one person one vote system, as far as i am aware all 3 of the big unions are behind Corbyn and are therefore recomending there members vote for him (members are free to vote who ever they wish).
Although not every member of a trade union is automatically eligible to vote

yes £2-3.00 to vote for the next Labour leader sounds really cheap and worth all the money to keep labour out of power for a very long time.. Having said all that he is head and shoulder above all the rest of the candidates, as it is rumored he has actually had some sort of job... this is not apparently a requirement to be a candidate to lead the labour party...No wonder they lost the last election so badly...Groovy

Another massive move for Corbyn in the next leader market, 2.6 into 1.6 this evening.

It seems that every time somebody from the Labour Party warns against him, his price shortens. Though that was quite a move, must be based on more than Alistair Campbell saying vote for anybody but him. Starting to look like it's actually going to happen. Unbelievable!

YouGov poll released yesterday was the reason for the big market move. Gives him 53% of the vote, enough for a first round majority.
