Do you know what happens
in the Dublin HQ?
I mean what departments they have there?
Does anyone know some inside?

I think they just take exchange prices and add 10% to fleece people who thought Betfair was different to a normal bookmaker. ;)

To be completely serious actually haven't visited them in Dublin just yet.

I haven't seen a particular reason to do so at this moment in time. Maybe next time when over I will pop in and see them.

The one in Dublin 4 is a data centre, but i imagine there is a bigger one in the UK somewhere

They are advertising for a Horse Racing Trader in Dublin :)

Betfair require an experienced Horse Racing/Greyhound Trader to join a highly ambitious and motivated trading desk. Candidates must have industry experience with a recognised online bookmaker, with a proven track record in odds compilation and liability risk management.

As a Horse Racing/Greyhound Trader, you will be expected to create racing markets, manage company liabilities and analyse market trends helping to increase and develop Betfair’s current portfolio of markets.

Key Responsibilities:

As one of the traders within the team, you will manage and deliver the day to day running of the Horse Racing product with specific responsibilities for distinct areas of the product. In addition to this you will be expected to analyse betting patterns and manage company liabilities. You will be required to assist the duty Senior Horse Racing Trader and proactively support the trading team as a whole.

Essential Skills & Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess odds compilation skills, a thorough knowledge of horse racing and greyhound racing together with risk management experience.
• Liability/Risk management
• Expertise in compiling and trading horse racing/greyhound prices & markets
• Experience of working in fixed odds and spread betting
• Ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends)
• Daily/Weekly Report analysis - Report Writing
• Mathematical and logical thinking
• Knowledge of statistical distribution models relevant to racing compiling.
• Keen interest and knowledge of Horse Racing/Greyhound Racing and statistical analysis

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Appropriate Third Level Qualification
• A track record of decision making that drives turnover and revenue growth
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience of odds compilation and risk management
• Ability to manage and provide support across trading
• Extensive knowledge of greyhound racing and the greyhound Industry
• Ability to work under your own initiative
