Betfair API Down

If Betfair goes down and doesnt come back up or go in play, are the bets settled normally, just based on the race results ? Would it be an idea to hedge it on Betdaq if this occurs ?

Yes all open positions run as back or lay bets and are settled dependnt on result, one thing im not sure on is what happens to SP placed bets? or if this differs depending on the error type Betfair have.
Always best to have Betdaq to cover any open postions and liabilties

I use automation from 30 seconds to post to SP all my bets in case of an issue. Not flawless but better than random.

How would you know if betfair have accepted them if everything is frozen so as not to end up in a position where you hedge off on betdaq as well?

You know mate, I was in you position few times. Once because "betfair" relied on 3rd party streams(they admitted that- but no refund etc.)
Basically we are taking the risk- clear. One thing has changed in recent years. The potential winner of my loosing bet(probably yours too) is not another mate who is happy of the winning now, your money is most likely in possession of Betfair as a company. Going further, Corcorans familly may have good dinner for your money now. My point is that percantage of bets being taken by human is significantly droping in my opnion year by year. Of course I dont have any figures, because no one has, but as a full timer of betfair for 8 years now I see whats happening.
There were a years were I was loosing money because of fault etc" I was saying to myself: "okay, they will come back with the money I will have the money back soon". What has changed in last years is that" they are not coming back with the money"- the money are hard to get back as they are in posession of betfair. Betfair have their own money on exchange(all over the place on football markets), Betfair are placing bets without delayment(minor tennis tournaments).
I love you Peter Webb btw. Wondering how long you will support them for free.

I notice they've cancelled all KEEP SP bets in the market too. They did the same a few days ago on some race at Brighton, getting to be a real pain these days.

If the market runs as intended you're fine but any glitches and they cancel/Lapse them rather than putting in the BSP pool it seems. Just gets harder to know if you're even on these days as they make up their own rules it seems.

I've complained to Betfair about not reconciling take SP, they don't appear to be interested.

They've replied to my email saying the BSP was never reconciled and they're " in the process of correcting the market".

Just a pain you have to continually check things or complain these days. I'm still waiting for a reply regarding voided keep SP bets from a race a few days ago.

You are wasting your time complaining to them as you know. They only thing to get their attention is to start a case with IBAS about it. Betfair will fold quicker than you can fold a shirt and repay you all your money and a bit more but all as a goodwill gesture before IBAS are able to rule as they don't want a precedent set.

If people don't go to IBAS and no one ever seems to bother, nothing will ever change and basically everyone is to blame for allowing the status quo to continue!
