For me at the price Corbyn makes a great lay - 1.59. I think it's the same phenomenon as UKIP. A load of Labour members are upset they lost the election and are just sounding off. When it really comes to the vote, he wont do anywhere near as well. All the senior Labour figures are warning against voting for him and once in the ballot box I think people will be more cautious. It's a ridiculously short price. I mean does anyone really think he could ever be PM?? History shows that the Brits have never voted for a candidate on either fringe of the right or left.

PS to last post. Do we still want to beleive polls after the last election?
I think Labour are in deep shit as a party
Blair and his followers are adamant Labour need to remain centralised in order to get into Westminster.....that was true in the late 90's, but politics in Europe has changed, a growing number of people are moving away from the centre.
We've seen Scotland become more and more left-wing, and recent elections have shown Labour needs Scotland, more than Scotland needs Labour. We've seen UKIP pick up over 5M votes in European elections, an anti-EU vote. We then saw England become more right-wing at the GE. Other countries are seeing fringe parties gain alarming support
Blair is totally out of touch, if he insists Labour stay in the centre, they are in danger of appealing to nobody at all.
Corbyn may have a chance of winning back Scotland and the working classes, more so than any other candidates

If Corbyn wins a democratic contest then those who lose or don't like the outcome should (as democratic politicians) respect the vote and live with it. It will be interesting to see if this is the case.
What I find amazing is those (Margaret Beckett etc) who proposed him say they did so only to widen the debate, discounting the fact he would have any chance of winning. How can you propose someone for a post and not want them to win? This I am afraid is the level of intelligence we have in Westminster.
I don't think there will be a split. I think it's more likely that Labour will resign itself to losing the next election under Corbyn and kick him out afterwards. It would be great fun watching how things develop under his leadership though.
But I don't think Corby will win the leadership election once push comes to shove in the voting booths.

Probably because of idiots like me LeTiss!
I read a rumour that he is getting ready for a return to politics. I backed him in the hope that this current leadership election gets called off, and due to none of the candidates being up to much, they re open the contest and invite new candidates to put themselves forward.
It is obviously fantasy stuff and extremely unlikely to happen, but it just goes to show that there are people out there stupid enough to back a runner that has no chance of winning, a fool and his money!
The other reason for backing him i suppose is that if you laid him for a lot of money before the candidates were announced when he was still considered a possibilty, then it can free up your bank if you have a lot of money tied up in the position.

Good point Oscar, I didn't think about layers looking to free their bank back
I notice a slight drift on Corbyn this morning - you can back him at 1.54, but the best priced bookie is 1.40
That's quite a difference if you think he's going to win
