I was wondering how the queing system works on Betfair. Is it simply your are placed in a queue and waiting to get matched in order. Is there any way to see this order or is it a black box ?

You cant view your PIQ you just have to make a mental note of the money already at that price point when you put your order there, you can now see the last traded amount rather than just the flashing traffic lights but many times - this along with the traded volume means you can keep a good eye on it - that said many times my money is say in a que of £500 and i watch for ages as a few thousand is subsequently matched ahead of mine before the price moves while mine is still there

We've had this conversation on the BA forum on numerous occasions, and that's because it's seen as a very grey area by a growing number of customers.

You're supposed to be in a queue....if you put £100 in a queue behind £500 sat waiting, then you should get matched after that £500 has been matched (even quicker if some of that money was scratched)

However, XM has seriously muddied those waters. To the extent that many people are questioning whether BF are tinkering the orders. There has been many times in recent months where I know I should be getting matched, but am not. We all know how BF have chased profit before anything else, and we all know they trade the markets.

Do they queue jump to get matched first? - I think so, yes

Do they have people that pay them a premium to queue jump? - it wouldn't surprise me at all

I agree 100% with what you say LeTiss and have always accepted when this happens its BF or there privliged customers that are doing this, was just pointing out that although you can guesstimate your PIQ from last traded amounts and total traded volumes many times your order may still not be filled

I don't believe there are privileged customers. But I do believe Betfair have changed the bet matching process for the worse, for whatever reason.

And i forgot to say, the amount of commision i pay Betfair it makes it one of the biggest bills i pay and in return they treat you like a twat.

No doubts in my camp that:
1) Betfair are active in markets - just to hedge their sportsbook bets.
2) There is big mess about PIQ, and I at least few times had very lengthy wait.

It makes sense that they can hedge their Sportsbook bets on the exchange. It also highly probable that they jump the queue

Describe how you are using SP as you should get SP matched in full every time.

Not getting matched on sp? In what circumstances? Lay liability below $30 wont be matched but otherwise ?

Is that something that applies to Aussie markets only or does the equivilent (approx £15) apply to SP's on UK markets?

Hi, its when i set an offset and take SP if unmatched. what happens is that it doesnt green all as it would if it was matched pre off. i haven't used my strategy in live mode cause im scared that i may be exposed.

ill check my settings, its possible that i havent done greening.

Surely not every bet gets matched at SP?

For example, if theres 50,000 in the pool for all runners and i place a $10,000 bet @ 10/1 surely it wouldnt be accepeted?

regards,

josh
