The fill rate was fantastic at times. I just wish every Saturday was like today on Betdaq.

Peter - If you have any data on volumes and fill rates for Betdaq today v historic I would be interested to know if there was anything different about today.

These days where you get loads of meetings on I find tend to go one of two ways usually. They turn into a nightmare or I get into the zone and the afternoon is over before you know it. Today was the latter.
Euler wrote:Andy, volumes on Saturday were around 40% more than I would have forecast. I suspect that is why it was a good day.

You can see period blips up in volume and they seem to correlate with my better days.
Many thanks for that Peter. I did notice that some markets seemed to have much higher than I would expect traded volumes but I have no records to compare against.

Do you have any explanation as to why the volumes were higher, on Saturday there was so much more racing than is often the case which you would perhaps make you think that volumes would be down as it could be spread over many races as opposed to concentrated on fewer cards.

I don't have any records as I say but I get the feeling that some tracks seem to be much better than others and these often have certain characteristics which make me wonder if these better tracks have more bookies using Betdaq at them.

I also wonder if as liquidity picks up, I am sure it is much higher than a year ago for example, that the bookies oncourse and elsewhere talk about it and see BD as an opportunity to get matched easier now and so put more money through.

I am trying to get my head around why things are improving as I don't get the impression it is from more traders as it seems no one virtually on here uses them. I don't see the incentive for punters to use them so they only thing I can think of is that the bookies who we know have a relationship with BD are using them more?

Had a really good couple of days on Friday and Saturday as well. Made around the same as I would have expected to make from a couple of days trading something like Royal Ascot so very happy with that.

As stated it does seems that certain meetings and days are much better than others. The back end of the week, and especially Saturday's tend to be pretty good, and Irish meetings tend to stand out. Chester seemed to be hitting around 20% of BF volume pretty easily while other meetings were a fair bit poorer. I'm not sure what is causing these discrepancies. As Andy has said maybe it's something to do with on course bookmakers?

Does anyone know whether coral hedge into Betdaq now or whether they won't do so until after the merger completes? If they are not already doing so this could add a little more liquidity.

It's getting to the point now where I don't really understand why people wouldn't at least trade some of the Saturday races on Betdaq. Sure it still isn't even close to Betfair volumes but firstly there is no premium charge and secondly surely volumes don't translate directly into the ability to get your bet matched. If you are stuck behind a queue of say 2000 pounds on Betfair trying to get 200 pounds matched when there is only a queue of 200 pounds on Betdaq far less money needs to be matched to get the exact same amount of your money matched. Roughly 20% in the above example. So surely the fill rate, (which has to be the most important aspect of liquidity), is actually far higher on Betdaq compared to Betfair than a mere top line analysis of volume matched would indicate?

On one race which I can't remember, 23K (Betdaq amount matched) with 4 mins to go.

Curiously, for some particular reason Wednesdays are the weakest days on Betdaq.

That's strange. Also for some particular reason Wednesday seems to be my weakest day as well

I plotted a graph somewhere further up the thread. It's a real oddity.

Peter do you know if they are going to revamp the API and move to json like betfair? As the current one is not simple to use!

Also any news on them breaking out matched bets into individual matched bets as it really annoys me not being able to see my bets being matched individually?

So, tomorrow Goodwood and Newmarket should trade well according to our theory and knowledge of Betdaq so far. Let's see.

I am getting issues with the API. It is taking an age to go inplay. Last race was 21 seconds after the off!

Also taking an age for my bets to place and then to update.

Anyone else seeing issues?

Yes, same here.

Going to try rebooting everything.
