As a newbie just starting up and only a few dozen races under my belt with small stakes.
I was trading the 18.40 at wolverhampton and to me it looked a bit crazy and real swingy as if someone was laying with big stakes about 3 horses at a time.
Is this the normal now and then?

It's been a recent development, or at least a new variant of what was an occasionally existing development. Some crazy guy did it in the 6.40 which cost me 100 quid. He's done it again in the 7.10 and I'm up 114 quid. I was ready for him this time.

But Wolves at the weekend is invariably highly volatile anyway.

In a truly dramatic conclusion at Doncaster, Simple Verse's trainer Ralph Beckett said he was "astonished" the result was reversed denying his filly victory and he immediately signalled his intention to appeal. (Racing Post)

Now somebody won 200k minus 40-60% premium.
might it be that it was reversed because of this bet? highly likely.
breaking news
Yes he did win
Simple Verse was reinstated as a winner today

Exchange result is when weighed in, so no change there. But not sure how it affects bookies.

Many bookmakers paid out on Simple Verse (and Bondi Beach), even though she was placed second, as they operate a 'first past the post' system. (BBC)

everything seemed to sail in the right direction today. And the liquidity was very good most of the time.

I agree last few days there seems to of been a lack of any serious momentum behind any move
