Tell a lie, can't access site and Betdaq have said there are problems (not theirs) so that's obviously the cause.

Betdaq have told me the ISP related issues have now been resolved. I suspect it was a DDOS attack.

It will be interesting if the volumes recover today Peter, can you let us know on here.

If they do it would indicate someone was absent from the market - I assume as they didn't want to risk things with the site having issues. Perhaps Betdaq or their seeder got a tip off not to use the site for fear of it going down.

It was interesting to see, the API didn't seem to be a problem but the web site was tough to connect to and impossible to use. So the difference you would have seen would seem to be web traffic.

But the volume on races was tiny without it, not worth doing. Revealing in a sense, but will see what it brings today. Hopefully it all returns to normal.

That is interesting. You wouldn't think that the website would be the main provider of liquidity. I suspect it is not but perhaps the issues with the website were sufficient for one or more people to not use Betdaq for fear of the issues spreading.

I would assume the bookies connect via the API and probably account for a large amount of the market.

Average volume was down 30% yesterday, so we roll onto today and see how that performs. The site seems to be back, we will have to see if the volume is.

It sounds as though from the posts on the forum that there were issues yesterday with Betdaq so if it is okay today it will be interesting to see if volumes return.

Thanks for doing the stats Peter.

0% commission this saturday for ascot and newmarket on daq

from an email i just received

"As a recent user of the BETDAQ exchange you may have been impacted by some technical issues over the last few days.
While the issues were external to our systems and beyond our control they resulted in a poor experience for some of our customers. Thankfully these issues have now been cleared and normal service has resumed.
As a thank you for your patience while these issues were resolved we've decided to go 0% Commission on all races at Ascot and Newmarket this Saturday.
We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your ongoing loyalty"

At BETDAQ we're serious about sport and serious about exchange betting and we're always thinking of ways to improve the exchange experience for our customers. On October 1st we're rolling out our next big idea.

From Thursday we are reducing the commission paid by customers who make offers on the exchange to a flat 2% commission.

Making offers gets you better odds, narrows the gaps between back and lay prices, and creates larger volumes for others to match. Offers make the exchange better for all customers so we're rewarding those who make them.

So get making offers - the power is in your hands to win more and pay less! For more info on the new commission structure, click here!

Thats a great offer, i would love to see most traders jump ship even for a few days from Betfair just to see how they react.

3 good bits of news on Betdaq then today.

Good to hear the volumes are back Peter - interesting that they fell off a cliff when the site had problems.

The offer on Saturday is very good of them but the new commission offering is excellent! The only worry I have about it though is is it sustainable for the business model?

Hats off to them for coming up with it though, as I offer a price 95% of the time it is very welcome!

Also just received this from Betfair..
Hi

Betfair has asked us, People for Research, to drop you a line and see if you would like to earn yourself £50 cash by getting involved in a bit of research about your betting experience.

Just spend an hour having a chat in our Hammersmith offices and you’ll be rewarded £50 cash at the end.

We’ll record the sessions for internal use, which will help us improve how we’re doing things here.

If you’re up for it and available on Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th, Wednesday 21st or Thursday 22nd October (possibly more dates to follow) between 9.30am and 5.00pm, click here and fill in a form to answer some application questions.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

I've given Betfair plenty of feedback on each visit, but only ever been offered the finger in response.

Thanks for touching base on Twitter Andy, I was about to post here when I saw your message.

It's really odd how Betdaq is not performing today.
