Hi, Since 1 July i have been successfully betting in the place market. I'm only losing on Saturdays and Wolverhampton. Does anyone have an idea why?

I did a dutching strategy and found that Wolverhampton was a poor performer. I came to the conclusion that the low quality racing there was mainly the issue.

The horse that won of the same distance a few weeks ago would reappear and finish last. Not the sort of thing you generally see elsewhere.

Also check out what type of races it happens on as that may give you a clue.

I echo what euler says about wolverhapton, the overall quality of the races and the fact its many of the same horses that are run over and over again there throw up some bizzare results and this is seen in the pre off price movements as its probebly the most volitile meeting off all.

Dont know why a saturday though perhaps just a bogey day for you

I know the pre race markets are different because of the real money but from a outright betting perpective i would nt of thought this would make much difference?

Unless you mean the overall betting value you can get on a saturday is less than other days?

Probably best going through all your bets from there. If you have an abnormal amount of 4ths(when paying 3 places) then its probably just unlucky and a statistical blip.

Also you probably have more bets from Wolverhampton than any other course as they race there more often than anywhere else, if you are profitable over all, it might just be probabilities evening out again.

I would advise against just cutting it completely. I had the exact thing happen to me when Wolverhampton first turned to polytrack. I was winning at all the other AW tracks though losing heavily at Wolves. When i made the decision to stop betting there altogether, instead of becoming more profitable, i started to make even less as i started losing at the other tracks, and having less bets so losing runs lasted longer which leads to lack of confidence.

It will probably become clearer as you have more and more bets, if something shows up as unprofitable, sometimes its better to work harder at that and try and turn it around, rather than cut it out completely.
