On a back to lay bet, is there a way of knowing how much you will be able to green up for across the runners beforehand? So a £10 bet at 5.2, greening up when it hits 4.5 for example. I imagine it will depend on the number of runners but I am not sure.

I would like to know the stake I need to win a certain amount.

Thank you.

Your example would return £1.55 profit

You can use the 'Green All Profit Condition' on the conditions section. If you state that you want to green up when your £10 returns at least £2, Guardian will automatically lock you out across all runners when that has been achieved

In the example you gave that would be at odds of 4.3 or below

LeTiss, thanks.

Firstly, how do you know my example will return £1.55? What is the maths behind that?

Secondly, I am unaware of the conditions section. Is this to do with automation?

Thanks.

£10 * 5.2 = 52
52 / 4.5 = £11.55
£11.55 - £10 = £1.55

It's as simple as that

Yes, the conditions section is on Guardian Automation. There's a option on the dropdown box 'Green All Profit Condition' and it's perfect for what you are asking

I've used it myself, and it works a treat

Give me a shout if you're struggling to implement it

Are you saying this is the green up amount (£1.55) for just that horse and lose nothing on every other one or is this the green up amount spread across the field?

It is the green up amount shown in the left hand column on the ladders I would like to be able top work out beforehand.

Regards the automation, what would the settings be if I wanted to stake £10 and green up across the field for £1 and would it tell me the second price or the number of ticks this would be.

I am trying lay after a back bet about 70% of the back price, to win £1. I would like to know how many ticks this would be for my £10 or whatever stake, so I can use the offest with greening function and set the number of ticks for this.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks.

Yes, I obviously didn't explain myself fully there. The £11.55 calculation was the lay off stake at 4.5, in order to spread the profit across all runners - a guaranteed profit of 1.55

Don't forget the green scales at the top of the ladder screen - this will calculate the greening figure for you. If you have the scales crossed off, the green figures will only apply to the selection you traded, and even then the profit will only materialise if it wins

The automation section sounds like you need to do some more homework there. You determine how many ticks, but to make £1 that will depend on what price you backed the selection at. The 'Green all Profit Condition' is on the 3rd and final tab - Conditions. On that section there's numerous options for you to use with the triggering of bets. You can use this particular condition to tell BA to place an automatic trade when the green up figure is over £1, so in essence, you don't need to worry greatly about how many ticks are required for differing prices

If you're still struggling I'll see if PW has placed a video on YT using it - if not I'll send you an example on the automation forum section

I understand the staking and can work out the lay price from the calculations you gave me.

I am not too interested in the automation set up at present so will take a look at this in the future.

One other thing, is it possible to see your matched bets and profit/loss for the day in Bet Angel or do you have to go into Betfair for this?

Thanks again LeTiss,
