Well if John Egan doesn't get at least 6 months on the sideline for that absolute shocker of a ride on Yul Finegold then it's an outrage. No wonder people have so little faith in the integrity of the sport!

What was strange.. Alot of horses that were known front of the pace went straight to the back. Very clear the Jockey set that race up and everyone knew about it.
Racing is extremely fixed at times.

I didn't even back it yet I'm furious with it, if he isn't banned he should be sent straight back to the apprentice school.

Ive always said this and stand by it.

All trainers should declare their intentions and instructions on how they want the Jockey to ride. When the arrive at the track they have to declare. They should do the same.

This would solve the problem forever.
We would know if Jockey was bent or not.

All trainers should declare their intentions and instructions on how they want the Jockey to ride. When the arrive at the track they have to declare anyway. They should do the same with riding instructions, or non if they want the jockey to ride their own race.

This would solve the problem forever.

Its a fix I tell you!

If you were to watch his last race back, you would see that he used the same free wheeling tactic out of the gate to win. All they have done is unoriginally tried to do the same thing again. The difference being last time was a Cl6 Claimer and this was a Cl3 Hcap so the field just kept with him.

The stewards held an enquiry. John Egan stated his instructions were to obtain a clear lead from the start, dictate the pace of the race and steady the gallop down the back straight before attempting to quicken approaching the home turn. He added that having turned into the back straight he was finding it difficult to keep Yul Finegold balanced in the strong cross-winds, which meant he was unable to give the gelding a breather as intended because he was constantly being blown away from the inside rail. He further stated that mid-race he was unsure whether Yul Finegold made a noise and also he was experiencing difficulty steering the gelding as the bit had slipped through his mouth. The trainer confirmed the instructions, adding that the tactics were designed to take fancied runners out of their comfort zone and had been successfully employed in Yul Finegold´s previous races, but he acknowledged that from the 1m marker conditions weren´t ideal for the rider to fully implement the desired tactics on this occasion. The stewards noted their explanations.

In other words the Jockey tried to use as many excuses as possible because the trainer informed him not to win the race and go as hard and as fast as you can. The bit only slipped through because he was ridding the shit out of it.
