Hi,

I have used other software/Swarm since day 1, and know both products v well/have made a lot, so, know the game.

I am trying to get my head around Bet Angel, for various reasons.

Here are the current 'issues' I am trying to solve with Bet Angel.

Maybe there are v simple solutions.

I am using the server version - and the vast majority of mkts I want to trade, only have 2 Selections (A V B)

1. Staking. There appears to be 1 staking default. if I set-up multiple stake defaults, and name a setting for it, If I want to switch from say, $50 stake, to $400 stake, I appear to have to reload the market. Is this right ?

2. The in-play trader is a thoughtful addition to a Match odds market, but, once again, there is no staking module on it. It just uses the default, set in Staking.

3. On the In-play trader, there is no Cancel Bets tab/P/L funtion. So, its clearly designed to use in conjunction with a Match odds mkt, but, if u tried to use it, on a iphone, for instance, u wouldnt see much.

4. If u undock a mkt, u lose all the tabs 2/3 rds down .. of which the most important, is cancel all. How are us supposed to cancel bets, if u have undocked a mkt ?

5.I fully understand custom columns .. and u can obviously have diff stakes on them .. but, it can make the screen, quite cluttered.

6.If I want to take my green, without invoking Guardian, and Never take a loss, is there a preference I can invoke for this? (i.e. .. If in the milli-second I press green-up, the mkt P/L turns to red, I dont want the bets sent).

7.I understand there are excel auto scripts available for download. Are there any screen-layouts ? I would have thought new users, would pay etc .. thou, u could argue, they learn more, by doing it themselves. (I would pay).

8.The Make Market column, sends 2 bets, 1 back, 1 lay, at the prices in cols 1. Is it possible to send them, at say 4 ticks offset to col 1 ?

Ok, thats enuf for now .. thx for any replies.

Hmm .. 60-70 views, and not one contributor.. Which is fine, but makes me think people are not using the software for in-running, but mainly for pre-race scalping and automation.

This is cool .. The fact Peter says he trades mainly from behind a desk, probably highlights that his trading style does not encounter the requirements an in-running trader faces - and thus, the software is not really aimed at that market.

I will try and customise, but, it appears, many features are not easy for a one click user to implement, while trading.

Maybe I will put in user requests etc.

I'm sure somebody will be along in a minute to help you out. Must admit I didn't see the original thread till now but I'm tied up now.

There are some solutions and some things that a future release will help you with as well.

I'm a little surprised that as a forum member with 92 posts, and as a well known full-time trader that you're not a long standing BA user

Megarain,
,aparently your a well know trader,
i have no clue who u are,but as a trader u will know that traders are busy and i doubt they will take 30 mins to read all your queries and answer them all in one big list for ya.
your around long enough to read the user manual and watch some videos,or email support ,that my felling i dont speak for anyone but me,
must go now ,have things to do

Just a quicky, have you looked at custom columns?

Thx, I have looked at custom columns, indeed, most of the videos/threads.

I have never used BA in live mode .. But am a great admirer of Peters writing/videos, so, cannot get my head around, why, it is frankly, so unfriendly, for an in-running trader.

Maybe I should have asked, what percentage of users, are in-running traders, as opposed to pre-event .. But, that info might be v hard to estimate.

Please understand, I am not saying, software X is better than BA. I want to use BA, at least, if it's in-running response times are comparable with other software, but, customisation is a big thing for me, and I am used to trading off a grid, not a ladder.

I thought I was missing something v simple.

Clearly, it's not.

I am guessing no-one uses BA at, say a horse-racing hospitality box.

Does anyone ? (If so there are implementation ideas I am missing ).

Thx.

For what it's worth, I only bet inplay on horse racing, and I only use the grid. I have sent enquiries to BA before, asking simple questions and making suggestions, but never hear anything back so I've given up. Any suggestions of other software would interest me. I'm particularly interested in point 6 of the original post, and yes - I do have 'columns'.

Good luck Megarain, as a subscriber to your blog, I look forward to the next post. Maybe some of your insight on the upcoming NZ v Aus tests?

Thx for those replies.

As traders, we invest a great deal of our limited, and therefore expensive time, to usually, one type of software, and it's easy to get defensive, when u have so much invested.

I am ambivalent.

As an in-running trader, I want a few things.

1. Raw speed.

2. Customisation. (I think it's stunning, u can't change the column or grid size of boxes - can u ?)

3.To be able to cancel existing orders v easily. Hiding the cancel button, doesn't help this.

4.Not to lose hard won money, thru errors / lack of mkt liquidity. Some neural intelligence maybe ... So, if the mkt had traded at 3.00 for the last 20 secs, u couldn't lay 20.0, without confirmation/preference check.

5.I have traded for about 15 yrs, first horses, then Ckt. I have watched , maybe 100 traders, at various times .. Only 3 used a ladder. I think this is where I maybe erred. I should have taught myself this method .. But, my brain is now conditioned to a grid .. And the millions I have won, don't make me think I am too wrong.

6. It's sad if suggestions take a long time to see light of day .. But, programming us clearly not easy. Maybe this dialogue will improve things. I hope so.

7. Having said all this, I am going to use BA live today, for a portion of the live Ckt game I am watching. If the speed is better .. Then, it's worth investing time.

8.To put me under pressure, will post my P/L from the game.

Not the answer you're looking for I know but I find using a mouse with some extra customisable buttons makes it easier and quicker to cancel bets than the cancel button and works regardless of whether the market is docked or not.

There is a neat solution for you in the next version of Bet Angel. But can't tell you what it is just yet.
