Hi all,

Since I have started to explore the markets in depth, one very important question in terms of trading have arisen. What are the best and worst races for trading and why is it so? I would like to attract all traders (professional), to share their point of view, in order to help all users here and newbies as me?

Thanks in advance.

Its a fairly broad question and depends a lot on your style of trading, all races are trade able in someway but never the same way for all.

Novices
Bumpers
Maidens etc
tend to suit swing trading and are often volatile and produce good, they can also take your shirt and inexperienced traders are often caught out on these

AW races tend to be the same as above

H'Caps in particular competitive ones with several runners similar in prices tend to suit scalping or semi-scalping and these often just take it in turns to see-saw up and down within a few ticks range as money comes for one the another etc.

The listed and Group races which attract all the money are much more steady because of both the amount of money and also alot more is known about these horses so there is usually little movement so you need to be more patient with these markets but can get much larger sums of money through so dont need the price to move far to make a decent amount.

Best advice is start by finding a style you like or are comfortable with then isolate the races its suits best concentrate on those and get to understand them then branch out and look for ways.

A trap most new traders fall into is trying to go from race to race and trade each the same as the last - but there is no one fits all strategy
