Somebody just prodded me that you wanted to do this on an iPhone so I correct myself. The new version won't help you in that respect.

If Betfair dipped into their pockets then there may be a burst of development for iPhones, but in the absence of that I doubt there will be much support from the development community for any viable smartphone trading solutions.

Mega
We know you want to be able to do certain things from your Iphone..
If youre using it the way I think youre using it; could you not just attach a bespoke excel sheet (ie with simple easy to see form buttons? a back & lay for each of the three selections..you could have one for a reverse green (with a condition attached so it doesnt green if a negative etc).
from your VPS you simply display the excel sheet with Betangel minimised..
I know youve used Excel with other software, so this would be straight forward for you I would have thought?
Or maybe Ive missed the point!?

Hi,

The only thing I use excel for, is my daily figures.

I am not really trying to push the envelope -- all the things I have asked for, are available on other commercially available software .. I just want to see more competition/choice.

My points maybe are misleading - and causing confusion.

Basically, I feel BA should be better, but, can understand, in-running improvements, may have to take a back-seat to other areas. I get this. No problem .. but, going down the line, if I was to choose a piece of software to trade with, this wouldnt be my first choice.

Given the pedigree of its developers, it maybe, should be - and hopefully, one day, its a no-brainer.

Hi Mega
Ok
Best thing to do is if there are thnigs missing that you would like; post them in the suggestion thread. I know the BA guys do look at this when thinking about future releases. In fact Im sure they are glad people come up with new ideas

Just going off at a tangent slightly; betangel really is very easy to customise via excel.
For newbies to excel; here is a very short video of a prerace swing/scalp BOT I built years ago. There were some things I wanted to explore that I couldnt through the normal betangel interface..so I made my own
It might just look like a WOM indicator (its not), but I sweated blood and tears when I built this and there is a lot of moving parts behind it.
Not intended as a reply to mega's post, but just to other traders who havent exploited the power of Excel

Hi,

Thx for your suggestion.

Exploring opportunities pushes your skill set. I havent a scooby where to start, but, if pushed, would look at videos/books etc.

I would ask thou :

Logically, having an interface, to excel, MUST add a little delay, even if its for a fraction of a sec, to what is displayed on your screen.

In-play traders, probably feel, this delay is too much. I have no idea if they are right or wrong .. // and when, bet placement is triggered, there must be another, fractional delay.

I repeatedly feel, I come from a different planet. Your skill sets do not notice these delays. Mine do.

In-play traders, want raw speed/customisation, as basics.

Anyway, good discussion.

Hope this dialog isnt interuppting anyones trading.

hi
Speed - Thats a very fair point.
Right now Im running two copies of betangel (using Guardian as I think its slightly faster than excel) for strategies that are less dependant on speed and Im running two programs (written in C#) that are faster in execution.

Many years ago, I had someone look at one of my excel spreadsheets and he ran some tests and told me that the sheets were refreshing at around 80ms and (if I understood him properly) he said that as the refresh cycle from betfair is 200ms, he I wouldnt benefit by it being any faster? (sounds plausible, but Im sure someone will tell me on here if thats wrong?)
(By the way; in my C# program I see there is a sleep function for 200ms so sounds about right for throttleing purposes?)

Mega - If speed to market is your ultimate goal..Your P&L's are massive, you could easily use some a fraction of that to have your own customised bot created (in C#)? No one would be able to access betfair quicker than you could. I could happly recommend someone to you if you wanted.

Thx.

I wish I understood even half of what u said .. which isnt your fault, but mine.

Will give it some thought.

//

As u have mentioned this, I cant help but wonder, why, intelligence isnt built into software, like BA. There are vast databases, saying Horse X has run 6 times, its price generally drifts, and has touched 1.30 in running 2x, only for it to be beat.

Why cant BA, highlight by color, each horse .. based on its characteristics ?

Surely, some day, someone will link databases .. for all sprt

People who own the data want to charge for it, so it's a licensing issue.

80ms is a long time, betfair may refresh everything every 200ms but its still FIFO.

By the sounds of it, the type of speed that is relevant to Megarain, is perhaps different to most other traders. I'm no expert, but I'm guessing Excel would be a hindrance rather than in anyway helpful.
