Fancied his luck at Dundalk by the look of it.

It comes in because of the size of stakes used relative to the market, often they are using stakes that represent in excess of 10% of the entire market. I personally would call that a farce :)

Was watching this on the last race at Ascot. The fact that £15k could hold the price up for ages on a Group 3 race seems to show you just how little money is getting matched I think? Very interesting to watch this one. But it didn't show normal characteristics for this guy so I wonder whether it was just somebody trying to get a large lay order filled. Curious enough to point out anyhow.

It seemed to me it was the same person but I guess we can never know.

The reason I thought that was that they had the large amount on the back side and only a few £k on the lay side. They then seemed to get a decent amount of the lay side matched and needed to prop the price up to get the back side matched and put in the £15k.

They have been around a good bit of late but thankfully the spiking guy has done a bunk for now.

But as you say it shows how woefully weak the markets on Betfair really are. Take out the traders money and in reality there is very little 'real' money in these markets. If £15k can control the price it says a lot about the make up of the markets and often we see much less being needed to control the market.

This guy is on a lot of races today. Seems to be lurking on crossovers?

That graph proves it's not a bookmaker

This is obviously somebody with a very large bank simply trying to distort the markets

I'd be interested to know if he's succeeding

I know this is well trodden ground but as discussed on the other thread I'll pop up some of the more interesting situations in the last few days. Hopefully it can help others get a handle on this. We have gotten pretty good in the office a spotting it quickly and adjusting our positions when it arrives and have locked horns with him on a few occasions.
