I did a quick Google search and it seemed from around 2011/2012 Betfair was banning accounts who were using practice mode.

Here are a few posts from ppl using Bet Angel - https://goo.gl/5aTV4p

Other softwares had ppl getting banned, too (so it's not just a Bet Angel thing).

My question is -- does Betfair still close account from ppl that do this? No result popped up from 2014 up to today so it seems Betfair is more lenient these days.

I'm not planning on using practice mode hundreds of times per day. Just 1 to 5 times per day max for about a week or two and maybe even use real money (minimum stake) once or twice a week.

Thanks for any info!

I have not heard of them banning anyone in recent times, they can and do still restict users accounts so it does not retrive the latest prices and volume figures and has very slow refrseh rates etc. This usually happens if you use practice mode excessivly over a period of time with no actual funds in your Betfair account and no actual betting activity.

I've been using PracMode this week no untoward probs. Just been using a certain Mr Webbs unwanted mullions. I decided that - when BF took five minutes to get to the deposit screen - I really didn't wanna trust them with any real cash and they could easily survive on my best wishes - mullions of 'em. Gosh I do so hope the can get by living off wishes????????????? or !!!!!!!!!!!

^^^ Thanks lads!

Looks like I'm safe as long as I don't abuse it (like hundreds of matches per day in practice mode) and bet at least the minimum stake every week or so.

You would be better just doing some simple low stakes trades pre match ie, backing for £5 and laying immeditly at the odds one tick higher will mean you ll lose about 5p but you will have put £10 through the market - and its just as easy to time it just right and do it by scratching the trade (backing at same price you lay) for zero loss.

So a few of these a week will be much better than a straight £2 bet once a week or so
