Hi guys,

I've been in contact with Betfair and asked them to explain why I wasn't matched in the following screenshot but so far they have ignored me, I've been in touch with there CS via chat twice and they say its being looked into but 2 weeks later I'm still to have a response from them.

Can anyone explain why I wasn't matched at 3.05 when quite clearly money was matched at 3.00, 2.90 & 2.88, is there any dodgy stuff going on?

Hi Redhead
Ive had exactly the same happen to me in Play where the money has traded below my offset.
I also remember seeing posts by JollyGreen where he had back to lays in the market and the lay was never matched despite it going lower than the lay bet.
We may have covered it in a post called - Do betfair trade their own markets
Either way, Im not sure you will ever get to the bottom of it??
Regards
Peter
(I gues their get of jail card would be that it traded at the lower odds before your bet hit the market, which I presume it didnt)

It can't of traded lower before my bet went in as I had it at 3.0 then moved it to 3.05 twenty-two seconds before it was suspended and as you can see by the candlesticks on the left hand side it traded at lower prices just before the suspension or just after it which is really dodgy if that is the case.

Yes it can. If you moved it, the lay at 3.0 was cancelled at 16:14:39 and a new lay at 3.05 created. This means that there was a minimum of 1 second during which you had no bet in the market, as a result of betfair's bet placement delay in-running. You can see it on the log. I'd guess that's the very moment when the price was swept down to 2.84.

Hi Redhead

Unfortunately, I think weemac is right and you may have narrowly missed getting matched.

You can download the relevant Betfair data from http://data.betfair.com/ - although it is a very large file just to check one runner!

You layed £5.00 at 3 at 16:13:37 (your time) and the Betfair data shows the only prices matched after that time were 3.3, 4.9, and 4.8

Until, that is, one final brief spike down to odds of 3 at 16:14:41

The lower odds matched were earlier in the race - before your lay at 3 was placed.

The timestamp of your 3.05 lay is one second earlier than the Betfair timestamp but this is probably your pc time and not the time the bet reached the market.

So, maybe your lay at 3 was in the market at that time but at the back of the queue and so didn't get matched or maybe you cancelled the lay at 3 just before the spike down and your subsequent lay at 3.05 was slightly too late?

Poor show that Betfair haven't responded though
