Before trading, I had been betting/punting on football for nearly a decade, both in play and pregame. Nearer the end I stopped doing it blindly and actually tried to put in a bit of effort, researching the more obscure games and finding markets I thought were valuable. Over a long period of time I was seeing a decent amount of success, until all of the major bookmakers either closed my account or limited my stakes to peanuts. This was when I became interested in what the Exchange had to offer.
The concept at the time was very new to me and I'm always cautious when it comes to things like money, sometimes overly cautious (which is something I need to possibly address). So before jumping straight into it I put a lot of effort into learning how software (mainly betangel) helped, how you could use it to its potential and how markets worked. I spent countless hours watching videos from numerous people, reading books and blogs until I felt I had a decent enough understanding of what was going on to give it a go.
So with what I had learned about the exchange itself and what I already knew about football markets such as what could effect a price and how, I gave it a go. Despite taking my time to learn things I still went into it thinking I would struggle at first and it would take a while to get to grips with. However after a month, to my surprise, I've seen a reasonable amount of success! Don't get me wrong I'm fully aware that there is still colossal amounts to learn and there are definitely things I need to tweak, however over my first month I have made a profit.
Did anyone else find this when starting off? I understand a month is such a tiny time frame and it's way too early to say "I've mastered this" as I could've potentially just got really lucky. Most blogs I've read have all said that they've all lost to begin with but practice has made perfect and now they're seeing success. I was fully expecting for this to be the same case for me but it hasn't been. Basically I was just wondering if anyone else when starting out saw a small amount of success rather than a loss?
I'd be really interested in hearing about everyone else's experience when starting out on the exchange
