When starting it's not a bad idea in general to wait for prices to reach evens before deciding whether you think something is more likely to happen or not, and going from there.
But the more of these illiquid markets you add to the mix the more chance you have of getting matched at stale prices.
So timing your entries can matter too, which is where ladder/software comes in handy, you don't want to see an 8 tick deficit 3 seconds after you get matched, when you can squeeze a few extra minutes if you time your entry a bit better.
